Funding for Maths Projects from NCETM

The National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM) is committed to the idea of collaborative teacher enquiry as part of the landscape of professional development. To this end we fund Teacher Enquiry Funded Projects (TEFP) (up to £5 000) and Mathematics Knowledge Networks (MKN) (£2 000) every year.

NSEW - Kick Start Funding from British Science Association

For National Science and Engineering Week (NSEW) 2011, the British Science Association will be coordinating their kick-start fund with small grants for schools provided by BIS (Department for Business, Innovation and Skills). This kick-start fund will be distributed throughout the UK, with grants of £200 to help schools organise their own science and engineering events as part of NSEW.

What is Physics? - FREE GCSE Physics Taster

This half day event is organised by the South East Physics network for year 9 or 10 students at a SEPnet Partner university campus.
The event covers ‘Energy and Energy Resources’ as detailed in the GCSE specification, and includes:
• An introductory talk on energy in the world around us
• An exhibition of hands on activities exploring energy and its use
• A quiz to reinforce the material covered

Williams F1 Race to Learn - Employee scheme for local schools

The Williams F1 Employee Scheme is open to local primary schools and offers the Race to Learn software at a discounted price (£100+VAT, instead of £150) and also the chance for a half day visit from a volunteer employee to the school to provide an insiders’ perspective on working for an F1 team and practical implementation of skills.

FREE LabSkills resources for all state secondary schools and FE Colleges

LabSkills is an interactive software resource designed to help teachers and their students get more out of chemistry laboratory sessions at A-level and GCSE levels.
Available as a USB stick, a teacher can use the material to prepare students for a laboratory session.

FREE Engineering Event for Year 10 Girls

The University of Surrey will be hosting a FREE day of engineering activities on July 23rd 2010 from 10am to 3pm for girls in year 10. The day will comprise talks and hands-on activities to show the range of opportunities open to engineering students.

Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths Project Opportunities for MK Schools

STEM by stealth
An offer is being made to schools in the Milton Keynes area to engage in a funded project to enhance the engineering skills and raise careers awareness for pupils in Key Stage 1, 2 and 3. The project has been designed to run over three full academic years with opportunities to tailor provision for individual schools.
