STEM Student Journalist Competition 2010

The 2010 STEM Student Journalist Competition deadline is:
4pm Wednesday 6 October.

The STEM Student Journalist Competition recognises the hard work and enthusiasm demonstrated by the students throughout the year.

Who is eligible to enter the competition? The competition is open to all students aged between 11 – 22 in full time education.

How do you enter? Applications should be sent direct to the STEM Student Journalist Team via Hannah Benson, hannah.benson@themarketingdivision.co.uk or contact the office on 0115 984 7021.

Students can enter the following competition categories:

CATEGORY 1: AUDIO & FILM

Best Under 16 Years Reporter
First Prize: iPod Touch
Runner up Prize: iPod Nano

Best Over 16 Years Reporter
First Prize: iPod Touch
Runner up Prize: iPod Nano

CATEGORY 2: WRITTEN

Best Under 16 Years Reporter
First Prize: iPod Touch
Runner up Prize: iPod Nano

Best Over 16 Years Reporter
First Prize: iPod Touch
Runner up Prize: iPod Nano

What are the judges looking for? The judges will take into account the age and educational stage of each entrant. Marks will be given for: * Overall news quality (40%) – unusual, amusing, interesting, engaging content, etc * Overall written or reporting ability (40%) – style, dialogue, interaction with the reader/listener, etc * Effective use of the report (20%) – coverage achieved, presentations to school, etc

When are the winners announced? The winners will be contacted directly by the end of October 2010.
