The Big Bang

Big Bang South East – The essential competition for students aged 11-18 to showcase their Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths projects.

If you or your students are involved in CREST Awards, Young Engineers schemes or simply have completed a notable STEM project, then the Big Bang Fair South East is the essential event to attend! The event is FREE to take part in and the prizes are significant including entry into the National Science and Engineering Competition 2011, prize money up to £200, plus other awards and certificates.

Students who do not have a project to enter the competition are also invited to attend. As visitors to The Big Bang South East Fair they will be inspired by other students’ projects and the activities running throughout the day. The event is designed to be fun and a celebration of STEM.

The benefits of attending this event for students are substantial:

  • Students exhibit their work in a vibrant and professional atmosphere
  • Students talk to the industry and academic experts who will be judging their projects.
  • Students see other projects from across the region and to discuss these projects with their owners, comparing and exchanging ideas.
  • There is a highly stimulating programme of additional STEM activities that run throughout the day to entertain, engage and inspire.
  • Students attend the award ceremony at the end of the day, which celebrates their achievements and is complete with celebrity guest speaker.
